Teacher's Notes: Pancakes for Breakfast
This story passively teaches present vs. past tense. The first part of the story is told in a “I always” style – going through the daily routine in present tense. The second part of the story focuses on a specific bad day, in which everything went wrong – in past tense, using most of the same vocabulary that was already presented. It also introduces several common expressions.
