Teacher's Notes: Where is Dino?

In this story, Tim can't find Dino, who is hiding. Ask the students if they like to play "Hide and Seek." Explain how to play this game, by acting it out. (You can say that "seek" is another way to say "look for.") Make sure your students understand "hide," "look for," and "find." Use students to show one person hiding, with you looking for that person and finding them. Ask questions: Do you like to play this game? Where do you play? In your house or outside? Where do you hide? Is it easy to find you? Do you like to look for people, or do you like to hide? Do you play with your friends? your brothers and sisters?

This story gives words for things at a park - slide, swings, sand, etc. After you have gone over all the words with many examples and pictures or visual aids, read the story together. Talk about the pictures, and give them words for things they see in the pictures. (Is Tim scared? Do you see Dino? Can you make a sand castle? Can you climb a tree?)
