Teacher's Notes: Dino Goes to School

This story continues the adventures of Tim and his pet dinosaur. It uses many of the same words from the previous story, "My Dinosaur," and introduces some new words fitting for the school environment. These words can easily be tied to the students' lives. You can use many visual aids while pre-teaching the words.

Ask the students about their school. "Do you like school?" "Do you have math at school?" "Do you have art at school?" "Do you eat lunch at school?" "Are you scared of school?" "What do you have in your desk?" "Do you like to play on the playground?" "Do you like to read books?"

After you have gone over all the words with many examples and pictures or visual aids, read the story together. Talk about the pictures, and give them words for things they see in the pictures. (Who ate the pencil? Do you eat pencils? Where is the desk? Where is the apple? Where is the swing?)
